Since the 2011 triple-disaster, Fukushima’s tourism, agriculture
and fishing industries suffered greatly, but people working in these industries
are determined to get things back on track. Since the nuclear accident, a
certification program involving municipal and prefectural governments, producers,
distributors and retailers has been put in place to ensure food safety. As an
indication of growing global confidence in Fukushima’s inspection and
certification programs, countries such as the UK, Taiwan and Indonesia have
recently dropped import inspection requirements on Japanese food products.
Another part of the prefecture's recovery efforts is reviving tourism.
The industry was hit hard by the 2011 triple disaster, but it has seen steady
recovery in the years before and since the Covid-19 pandemic. With this, the
13th edition of our calendar, we continue our own contribution in the effort
towards restoring our prefecture. This is our promise. This is our home.
This is Fukushima.
