March of 2026 will be the 15th anniversary of the triple-disaster
in Fukushima. In the years since, there has been much accomplished in restoring
the affected coastal areas of the prefecture. The decommissioning of the
Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is making steady progress. Today,
the restricted zone at the plant has been reduced considerably and is now limited
to the reactor buildings themselves. These developments have instilled a renewed
confidence in tourism and have resulted in a gradual but steady increase in foreign
and domestic visitors across our prefecture. We hope that our calendar project
may have played at least a small part in that recovery. For this reason, we plan
to continue producing our annual calendar for the foreseeable future.
This is our hope. This is our pledge. This is Fukushima.
